Lady Gaga has been hospitalized after suffering from "severe physical pain."

The singer has canceled her performance this Friday at Rock in Rio in Brazil. "I ask for your grace and understanding, and promise that I will come back and perform for you soon," she wrote Thursday afternoon on Twitter.

"I was taken to the hospital," she further explained. "It's not simply hip pain or wear [and] tear from tour; I'm in severe pain. I'm in good hands [with the very best doctors."

A subsequent statement released by Gaga's reps noted she is "suffering from severe physical pain that has impacted her ability to perform."

The pop star recently revealed she has been suffering from fibromyalgia, which can cause extreme pain, fatigue and cognitive issues. Her tour is scheduled to continue on Sept. 21, but it's unclear if she will maintain her schedule as planned.
