With its second season still months away, Stranger Things has already secured a third installment.

The Duffer Brothers, the show's creators, confirmed in a new Vulture interview the '80s sci-fi thriller series has been greenlit by Netflix for a third season, but they also suggested the show would end with a hypothetical fourth season.

“We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” said Ross Duffer, although he didn't provide much explanation because audiences have yet to see the second season unfold.

He added: “I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year."

As of this writing, Netflix had yet to formally announce a third season renewal. The second season premieres on Oct. 27.
