Kendrick Lamar Surprises Longtime Fan Who Is Quadriplegic with Brand New Van

Kendrick Lamar rewarded one fan's "loyalty" over the weekend at his show in Dallas, Texas.

He surprised longtime fan Jennifer Phillips with a lofty gift pack of an autographed DAMN. jacket, a customized Dallas Mavericks jersey with his given last name "Duckworth" on the back, a "What Happens on Earth Stays on Earth" hat and a new, modified van.

Phillips, who has attended every one Lamar's seven shows in Dallas and one in Austin, became a quadriplegic 11 years ago due to a spinal cord injury in a car accident, and she had spent months trying to raise funds for another vehicle to replace her current used van, which has increasingly "on it's last leg."

"Thank you for always supporting me. [You're an] inspiration for me," Lamar wrote on the jacket, which he presented to Phillips. "You are strong and positive. [You're] kind and beautiful. For all the years of inspiring me, the least I can do is make sure [you're] comfortable driving the city. A gift from me to you. [You're] always appreciated!"

In a note last spring, Phillips said she had been using a preowned minivan since 2006, explaining it had taken her to and from school as she obtained her bachelor's degree, while also serving as transportation for meetings, church events and family trips, but it had quickly become less mobile, causing her and her family to have to alter their schedules and at times use a manual chair—usually in the rain, as the weather seemed to impede the van's use.

"I was a big fan of music and concerts before my injury but I never supported and loved a label like theirs before," Phillips wrote following the encounter at Lamar's show, adding: "Their music and shows were enough for me. But this is amazing and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all and always will. Thank God for you Kendrick and I will continue to pray for you. And like I said, next time I’m driving myself to your show lol. Thanks to the whole team!"
