Twitter is jumping into original live video content with perhaps its most fitting evolution after a series of odd attempts to expand the social network.

The company announced Monday night it is planning a series of live video channels, some of which will be 24 hours, to coexist with the constant stream of tweets about TV, news and current events.

Through more than a dozen new partnerships, Twitter will stream content around the clock, including a morning news show from BuzzFeed (MorningFeed), a tech series from Vox (Circuit Breaker), live concerts from Live Nation, three hours of sports programming via MLB, 20 regular-season games from the WNBA and a slew of post- and pre-show broadcasts from the NFL.

As part of an agreement with producer Ben Silverman's new company Propagate, Twitter will launch a daily show centered on pop culture and entertainment called #WhatsHappening, hosted by Two Dope Queens podcast co-host Phoebe Robinson.

Additionally, Twitter is also linking up with Bloomberg, which will produce a 24-hour news channel exclusively for Twitter. Meanwhile, the social platform is also in the process of developing a 24-hour college sports channel called Stadium.

Twitter will also be partnering with IMG Fashion for live feeds of exclusive runway shows and behind-the-scenes footage from Fashion Week.

"For 11 years people have been engaging in conversations on Twitter about live events and shows on TV," remarked Twitter COO Anthony Noto said tonight during a presentation in New York, explaining the natural progression into Twitter-hosted content.

CEO Jack Dorsey further added: "We want to be the first place that anyone hears of anything that matters to them," he said. "That is our focus and that is what we will work so hard to deliver."

Among the first live concerts streamed via Twitter will be shows from the likes of Train, Portugal. The Man, August Alsina, Marian Hill and Zac Brown Band, the latter of whom will kick off the Live Nation effort on Saturday, May 13.
