Spotify confirmed Thursday it has passed 50 million paid subscribers.
The announcement comes nearly six months after it reached the 40 million mark, keeping with its pace of adding 1.7 million paid users each month, as it was 30 million paid subscribers just one year ago.
It wasn't immediately clear how many total subscribers the streaming service now has.
The news comes a day after Spotify launched a series of SXSW-centric playlists, specifically curated as previews of the upcoming Austin festival, which kicks off its Music events on March 13. The playlists will also be available through the official SXSW Go app, serving as a guide to the daily performances.
