Global Tribute Concerts Planned for David Bowie's 70th Birthday

A number of tribute concerts are being planned for what would have been David Bowie's 70th birthday, Jan. 8.

According to The Guardian, the shows will feature "30 core musicians as well as 40 local artists" with ties to the late music icon. One such show is being led by Gary Oldman, who is rallying fellow artists for an event in Brixton.

Proceeds from that show will benefit the Children & the Arts charity, which aims to connect disadvantaged children with the arts, regardless of "social or economic barriers."

Information regarding other concerts is expected in the coming weeks.
