After teasing a Stephen Colbert election night special over the summer, Showtime made in official on Monday, confirming a live broadcast will indeed air on Nov. 8 as the nation awaits the electoral results.

Dubbed Stephen Colbert's Live Election Night Democracy's Series Finale: Who's Going to Clean Up This Shit?, the live, uncensored hourlong show will begin at 11 p.m. EST.

Showtime had been optimistic of such a program, with the network's CEO David Nevins telling the Television Critics Association in August: "Stephen wants to do it. I want to do it. The studio wants to do it. He’s promised he will say a couple of curse words."

Like Colbert's Late Show on CBS, Democracy's Series Finale will air from the Ed Sullivan Theater, with the comedian and various guests reacting to the state-by-state returns in addition to remote segments.

Colbert, who is free from his Late Show gig (due to CBS's election coverage), said in a statement today fans can expect "all the political comedy you love from my CBS show, with all the swearing and nudity you love from Showtime."

Likely contributing to Showtime's decision to go live with Colbert, his Late Show saw a hefty ratings spike with its live episodes following the Republican and Democratic conventions.
