Adele's '25' Is Officially A Diamond Album

Just 10 months after its release, Adele's 25 has surpassed 10 million units in the United States, having been certified diamond by the RIAA this past week.

In the age of decreasing album sales as streaming rises, diamond status has become further out of reach. And it's quite possible it may be some time—if ever—before another record reaches the benchmark.

Interestingly, Adele's last album 21 also reached the diamond mark in 2012, nearly two years after its release. 25 managed to move 10 million units in half the time.

As Entertainment Weekly notes, 25's lead single "Hello" has also been certified as seven-times platinum.

The singer was presented with a plaque last week (pictured left) following her six-night stint at Madison Square Garden in New York. Her current tour runs through Nov. 21 in Phoenix.
