An "infection" has gotten the best of Green Day, forcing the band to postpone the start of their upcoming tour, which was set to kick off this week in St. Louis.

“We’re so sad to announce we have to postpone three shows and cancel Toronto,” they said in a statement released Sunday. “Many of us have been battling this infection for days on end to be ready, and it just got the best of us.”

The three postponed shows are St. Louis (Sept. 20), Chicago (Sept. 21) and Detroit (Sept. 24), which they intend to reschedule when possible. Their performance at the World Cup of Hockey Fan Village in Toronto, which was set for Sept. 23, has been scrapped and will not be rescheduled.

The news comes ahead of Green Day’s new album Revolution Radio, which is out on Oct. 7. The next date on their tour schedule is Sept. 26 in Columbus, Ohio.
