Fresh off the release of her new single "Perfect Illusion," it appears Lady Gaga may be eyeing a halftime performance at next year's Super Bowl LI.
Citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the NFL's plans, Billboard reported Tuesday the singer is in talks for the coveted slot, with her headlining potential apparently boosted by her performance of the National Anthem earlier this year at Super Bowl 50.
"We have had conversations with several fantastic artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show," a NFL rep told Billboard. "However, at this point we do not have a final decision."
The report comes as Gaga is readying a new album. While "Perfect Illusion" has been greeted with mixed reactions, the full record is said to be out really soon, perhaps by the year's end, with guest features from Florence + the Machine, Beck and Father John Misty.
Adele last month shot down rumors she might be performing at the 2017 Super Bowl, explaining the show is not really "about music" and lamenting: "I don’t dance or anything like that."
It's worth noting there's still plenty of time for a halftime headliner to be selected, considering this year's performer Coldplay wasn't officially locked in until last December.
