Saturday Night Live vets Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah will not be returning for the sketch comedy series' upcoming 42nd season.

TVLine first reported the news Monday night, explaining both actors are going to focus on other opportunities after six seasons on the NBC late-nighter.

Both comedians have delivered a number of impressions over their time on the show. Killam made recurring characters of Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey, Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy and Tom Brady, among others. Pharoah's extensive impressions included President Obama, JAY Z, Will Smith and most recently Ben Carson.

According to Killam, it is not by choice that he won't be returning, explaining the seventh year of his contract was not picked up. "I honestly don’t know what happened," he said, adding: "I had sort of had it in my head I would make this upcoming year my last year ... I was never given a reason why, really. I can assume until the cows come home."

Additionally, featured player Jon Rudnitsky, who joined at the beginning of this past season and never really stood out in his limited screen time, will not be returning for the new season.

Their exits come as a handful of other repertory players' futures are also in question, most notably Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, who are clearly chasing bigger projects, as evidenced by their starring roles in this year's Ghostbusters reboot.

SNL has faced a number of cast changes in its four-decade history. It is expected to reveal multiple new hires before season 42 starts at the end of September.

A rep for the show has confirmed both Killam and Pharoah are in fact departing.
