Prince's famously secret vault of unreleased music has finally been opened, as Bremer Trust—the temporary executor of his estate—has gained access to the private collection.
According to ABC affiliate KSTP-TV, the vault literally had to be drilled open because Prince was the only one with the code to unlock it.
Although the singer's discography included 39 studio records, ABC News reports there's enough music and demos in the newly opened library—much of which pre-dates 1984's Purple Rain—to release an album a year for the next century.
"One day, someone will release them," Prince said during an appearance on The View in 2012. "I don't know that I'll get to release them. There's just so many."
It may be some time before anyone outside of those closest to Prince hears the unreleased material, as he died without a will and Minnesota state law says all of his assets would then be divided among Prince's sister Tyka Nelson and their five half-siblings.
