Donald Trump Suggests Elton John as Inauguration Performer

Moments after sweeping all five Republican primaries on Tuesday night, Donald Trump suggested he'd like to have Elton John perform at his inauguration.

The reality television personality was at Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People gala tonight when he was asked who he might have play at his inaugural ball, hypothetically. "I have so many friends," he said. "But we always love Elton John."

Trump was projected the winner of tonight's contests in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Rhode Island and Delaware, furthering his delegate lead and moving closer to the Republican nomination for president.

John's inclusion as a potential inauguration performer might seem surprising coming from someone who currently identifies as a Republican, but Trump has made clear in the past he's a big fan and tends to play "Tiny Dancer" and "Rocket Man" at his rallies, to John's dismay.

Perhaps more shocking than the possibility of Elton John performing at a Donald Trump inauguration is the fact that Trump is horrifically close to an inauguration at all. And as of this writing, there are only 10 primaries left on the calendar this year.

Previous inauguration performers have included Beyoncé and Aretha Franklin in 2009 for President Barack Obama; Brooks & Dunn and Ricky Martin for President George W. Bush in 2001; and Fleetwood Mac (who hadn't performed together since 1982) and Bob Dylan for President Bill Clinton in 1993.

For the record, Trump and John have rubbed elbows in the past—during the former's years as a Democrat, and as recently as 2013, the casino mogul called the musician "my friend."
