Time Runs Out to Save 'Happy Endings'

Many had their fingers (and toes) crossed that something "ah-mah-zing" would happen in the 11th hour, but it seems time has finally run out for Happy Endings to find another home. Sony Pictures TV, which produced the series for ABC, has ended its search to relocate the ensemble comedy to a different network.

The cast’s contract options expire this weekend, and no network has stepped forward to claim the show. USA Network had previously provided fans with hope after discussions with Sony, but those talks eventually fell apart. NBC and TBS had also reportedly been looking at options for continuing the cult comedy, but it appears those networks have also walked away—which is especially unfortunate for NBC, which could use a boost on its comedy side.

Sadly, Happy Endings won't get their own "happy ending." Meanwhile, The Neighbors, the corny sitcom about a human family that lives in a neighborhood inhabited by aliens, marches on. Good one, ABC.
