The nominations for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Thursday morning by Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul and three-time Emmy winner/How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris, the latter of whom is also hosting this year's event.
American Horror Story: Asylum led with a staggering 17 total nods (including for Outstanding Miniseries and Lead Actress Jessica Lange), while Game of Thrones was not far behind with 16.
Lead Comedy Actress contender Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) made Emmy history by passing Lucille Ball’s record 13 career nominations. And it's also a good day for Netflix, which racked up a record 14 nominations between its original program, House of Cards (including Outstanding Drama); its horror thriller, Hemlock Grove; and the recently revived comedy, Arrested Development. It's the first time an online-only network has obtained high-profile category nominations.
