Azealia Banks Wants to Move Past 'Kitschy Female Rap Scene'

Azealia Banks took a few moments early Monday morning to explain the current lull in her public activity.

She has "been using this time to exercise all areas of my creativity," she said via Twitter, "including dance, the literary and culinary arts, directing." She also revealed she will soon be publishing some essays on "pop culture, physics, the masses vs. the sheeple."

As for her music, she's hoping to "completely transcend this kitschy female rap scene I've been a [part] of & move [into] bigger, more relevant social territories." Although she provided no details on new music, she did follow up some "nasty replies" by suggesting she has "a secret that no one knows." (Full tweets)

Her debut album, Broke with Expensive Taste, has been plagued by delays and has yet to receive a proper release date.
