Ben Haggerty (aka Macklemore) says he and Ryan Lewis tried but failed recruiting Adele for their latest album, This Unruly Mess I've Made.

According to Haggerty, he had hoped the "Hello" star might contribute to his song "Growing Up," but "she graciously passed," he told The New York Times, explaining that she was an exception, whereas the likes of Chance the Rapper, Leon Bridges and Anderson .Paak agreed to appear on the album.

Sans Adele, Ed Sheeran now appears on "Growing Up" instead. This Unruly Mess I've Made is out now.
