Fox Chief: 'We're Hopeful' About Bringing Back 'The X-Files'

Fox has made a number of announcements during its Saturday presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Co-chair/CEO Gary Newman said during the panel the network is "hopeful" about bringing back The X-Files, which concluded its nine-season run on Fox back in 2002.

Newman also responded to speculation about a Prison Break revival, stating that while nothing was in the works, they'd sign on "in a heartbeat" if the involved parties were interested.

Variety also points out that a pitch for a new installment of 24 is sans Jack Bauer, suggesting Kiefer Sutherland would not star.

As for the current season, the net announced Gotham, Empire and Brooklyn Nine-Nine have been renewed for 2015-16.
