Justin Vernon: 'We Don't Have Any Plans' for Bon Iver Album

While he might have implied otherwise earlier this year, Justin Vernon says there are no specific plans for a new Bon Iver album.

Speaking with Grantland ahead of the band's headlining performance at Vernon’s Eaux Claires Music and Arts Festival, the musician said he's "been taking it really slow. I don’t mean to get all cerebral about my art, but I’ve been trying to collect improvisations and collect moments."

He went on to add: "As far as putting a record together, I don’t really know what’s happening. Our show is our main focus. We don’t have anything booked after this. We don’t have any plans. We’re not being secretive — we just don’t have any plans."

Fans, especially those in attendance at Eaux Claires on July 18, shouldn't feel too disheartened, as Vernon notes Bon Iver "might play some new stuff" during their performance. So even if the band isn't in full album mode yet, that doesn't mean they haven't been writing.

Last month marked four years since the release of Bon Iver's Grammy-winning self-titled LP. Eaux Claires runs July 17-18 in Eau Claire, Wisc.
