Atlanta rapper Future, who might have been quietly having his best year yet, can celebrate louder this week because his newly released album Dirty Sprite 2 is No. 1 in America.

With only seven days notice, the record arrived on July 17 and moved a total of 147,000 units in its first week (the rapper's best sales week), according to Nielsen Music. Its closest competitor came from No. 2 placeholder, Taylor Swift's 1989, which sold 50,000 units.

It's been a great year for hip-hop albums on the charts, as Meek Mill's limited-notice Dreams Worth More Than Money also released earlier this month and spent two weeks atop the Billboard 200. Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly and Drake's own If You're Reading This It's Too Late were released with 10 days and no notice, respectively, both subsequently debuting at No. 1.

Elsewhere on the charts this week, Jason Isbell's Something More Than Free debuts at No. 5, with 41,000 units. At No. 7 is Tame Impala's eagerly anticipated Currents, which moved 38,000 units. With 40,000 and 33,000 of pure album sales, respectively, this was the best sales week for both acts.

As for rap albums in 2015, a new record from Kanye West is still expected later this year, while Drake and Rick Ross are among the MCs who could also release new sets in the next five months.
