Fyre Media founder Billy McFarland was arrested Friday on one count wire fraud.

McFarland, who founded the disastrous Fyre Festival alongside Ja Rule, faces 20 years in prison if found guilty.

Joon Kim, the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement: “McFarland allegedly presented fake documents to induce investors to put over a million dollars into his company and the fiasco called the Fyre Festival. Thanks to the investigative efforts of the FBI, McFarland will now have to answer for his crimes."

McFarland's arrest follows reports last month that the FBI was investigating the failed Bahamas festival, which was scrapped after attendees showed up to poor lodging conditions, lack of food and a disaster-like setup after paying thousands of dollars for a lavish, very elite music getaway, with lush bungalows and a one-of-a-kind island experience.

For his part, Ja Rule said immediately after the festival's collapse it was "not my fault," but said he was "taking responsibility," adding: "I’m deeply sorry to everyone who was inconvenienced by this."
