With the end of Louis C.K.'s Louie having finished its fifth season this past May, FX Productions CEO John Landgraf revealed Friday the show is taking an "extended hiatus."

Landgraf's remarks came during network's Television Critics Association panel, noting that the comedian is busy executive producing multiple projects for FX, including the Zach Galifianakis-starring clown comedy Baskets as well as Better Things, which stars C.K.'s longtime collaborator Pamela Adlon.

While Landgraf affirmed that the return of Louie would be C.K.'s choice, he was also careful to clarify that it could be as long as two years before the comedy made its way back to air.
