While she's currently in the middle of a massive North American tour, Adele may also be next year's Super Bowl halftime headliner, if a report from The Sun is to be believed.

The British tabloid is reporting the singer has been in discussions with the NFL to perform during the annual football championship game, which is being held on Feb. 5 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

“There is nobody bigger in the world than Adele right now and organizers are doing absolutely everything they can to try to persuade her to sign up," The Sun's unnamed insider said in an oddly worded statement. "She’s sold out every date on her tour, everyone wants a piece of her and they know they can bank on her bringing in the viewers."

Adele's "nerves" are reportedly the reason for any hesitation, as she's been known to suffer from intense stage fright and nearly passed on headlining Glastonbury for similar reasons.

Whether The Sun's report is true or not, it would be impossible for the NFL not to consider Adele, who is currently one of very few music acts still selling millions of album copies. Her latest, 25, has already sold over 8 million in the U.S. since it arrived last November.

Should Adele be named the halftime performer, she would join the ranks of previous headliners such as Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, Prince, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Madonna.

A rep for Adele declined to comment.
