Arctic Monkeys' 'AM' Gives Band Historical No. 1 Album

Arctic Monkeys' newest album, AM, debuted at No. 1 this week in the U.K., but the scope of the achievement was much larger.

The band became the first independently-released group to nab five consecutive No. 1 albums in the U.K., as of Sunday's new charts. According to the Official Charts Company, the new LP sold 157,000 copies this past week, second only to Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories opening week of 165,000 in May.

AM is also likely to debut in the top 10 in the U.S. when the new Billboard 200 is announced on Wednesday.
