JAY Z's Tidal Charges Apple Users 30 Percent Higher Fees

Some subscribers to JAY Z's Tidal have recently noticed not all devices are equal in the eyes of the new streaming service, which is charging iOS users 30% more "due to the fees paid to Apple."

While reports of the higher rates surfaced Wednesday, it's not new, as Tidal quietly explained via Twitter on April 15 that iPhone and iPad subscribers will pay $12.99 for the lowest tier and $25.99 for the "HiFi lossless" service, compared to the website rate of $9.99 and $19.99, respectively.

It's an interesting move for the streaming company, but it will likely become even more of a factor when Apple finally launches its own Spotify/Tidal competitor later this year.

Nonetheless, JAY Z has been making a bigger push for Tidal, taking to Twitter to defend its faults and even announcing an exclusive live streamed concert of B-side material which he has rarely (if ever) performed live.
